Meili Robots Pitched about Meili FMS to the Keystones Angel Network
Our Meili FMS is a “plug-and-play” solution, built to be adaptable to the current systems used by the robot operators. It is designed to eliminate interoperability pain points between different robot brands used at the same location, while also opening up another level of automation.
On behalf of Meili Robots, our founder & CEO, Aldus von der Burg was invited to pitch in front of Keystones Angel Networks. The event was host by Kenneth Helmer Larsen, at Keystones Studio.
Aldus’s Pitch
Firstly, thank you very much for having me. My name is Aldus von der Burg, Founder & CEO of Meili Robots, a startup based here in Copenhagen.
In short, what we do at Meili Robots is a universal fleet management system (FMS) for mobile robots. It’s designed as integration for Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). The idea is that you can collate your fleet of diverse robots from different types and brands onto one platform to be able to control your fleet.
Why are we developing this? well on the market, at the moment, each robot manufacturer has its own fleet management system, which is exclusive to its own robots. And, once you start introducing another type of robot to the same work environments, the two robots cannot communicate with each other, and their fleet management systems cannot communicate. Robots start working as individuals, which leads to inefficiencies, obstructions, and overall disruption to your workflow.
So what we do is that we're developing a universal fleet management system, where you can bring all the robots of the different types and different brands onto one platform. This will be working as a traffic control system, a hive-mind collective, which helps maximise efficiency, boosting the potential of your fleet. Our solution also comes as an integration that can be integrated into your current WMS. And through this, we can enable the customer to utilise our autonomous task allocation, so when there's an order made in the WMS, we can see the dimensions, the weights of the payload and then assign it to the relevant robots that are capable of doing that task.
This also opens up the potential for distribution, in a much simpler and easier method, compared to the stand-alone solution.
Our target market is naturally warehouses and manufacturing facilities. These are at the moment the largest users of mobile robots, and they are also the ones who are experiencing these cross-communication problems and inefficiencies the most. Our primary focus is initially on the European market as we see the potential to be the strongest growth in this field, but we're also looking at the US market as a secondary priority.
Our distribution model is through partnerships with warehouse management developers and providers. By doing this, we are on their marketplace as a plugin, an integration, or an app. This is beneficial for the user since they already have the system, and all they would have to do is add it as an add-on for their subscription, download it, and then we would send them the installation files and instructions on how to set it up. Through the setup, we've also done it so you could be set up within hours rather than days. We wouldn't even have to come over there to set up for you, you can do it yourself.
At the moment, we have currently partnered with three warehouse management systems. We have Fishbowl in the US, and Rackbeat and Apport, which are Danish-based companies, presence primarily in Europe and Scandinavia.
We're a team of five and a half, we do have a marketing freelancer. There are myself and Dalia, who are mainly on the business side — sales and partnership. Then we have also two back-end developers — Juan and Rimvydas, and a front-end developer — Sajjad.
Q&A Session
After the pitch, there was a question asked whether or not Meili Robots would be a competitor to AMR or AGV manufacturers.
